Audiological Systems Scientist
Otodynamics Ltd. is looking for an exceptionally able individual to complement its OAE hearing test instrument development and support team.
The person appointed will be a good graduate scientist with proven aptitude for in-depth understanding of audiological or related instrumentation, able to rapidly assimilate technical information, to teach and to appreciate the needs of audiology professionals of all grades. They will also have a positive vision of the role which academic-industrial initiative plays in the development of audiological medicine.
The post will be based in Hatfield and the scientist will be expected to play a full role in the company’s UK and international activities, providing solutions and advice to clients, and taking part in exhibitions and demonstrations of equipment. They will support Otodynamics’ major participation in the UK’s universal newborn hearing screening programme, liaising with users and participating in training programmes.
The Otodynamics Audiological Scientist will be expected to engage in auditory research, both for the company and for their own professional development, leading to original publications and to new product features. The successful candidate may have a higher degree already or may be supported by the Company to obtain one on a part-time basis. Subject to acceptance the scientist will become an honorary academic member of UCL’s new Centre for Auditory Research (recently funded by JIF) and will engage in research in Prof. Kemp’s Auditory Function laboratory in the new building.
Previous clinical or technical experience in audiology and/or otoacoustic emissions would be advantageous but not essential. All relevant experience and training will be taken into account in offering an attractive package for the right person, which may include assistance with relocation.
