Otodynamics introduces new screening products
at AAA 98

Echocheck hand-held screener

The ECHOCHECK device will be a pocket-sized hand-held screener with automatic rejection of noise and Pass/Fail indication. The device focuses on the main speech frequences and the technique has proven sensitivity to even mild hearing loss. In trials, newborns gave positive results in seven seconds in most cases.

ECHOPORT+ with optional battery-operated printer

The ECHOPORTplus standalone OAE screener uses graphic animation to guide the operator to the optimal probe fitting and test result. Just as fast as the ECHOCHECK, the ECHOPORTplus features an integral keyboard for patient data entry and saves raw data in the industry-standard ILO88 format for later review and analysis with a PC.

Contribution to NCHAM

At the AAA meeting, Otodynamics recognised the great contribution of Dr. Karl White and his National Center for Hearing Assessment and Management, based in Logan, Utah. Otodynamics presented Dr. White with a check for $25,000 as a no-strings contribution to the valuable work of NCHAM in promoting and supporting newborn hearing screening in the United States.

Prestigious Award for Otodynamics

Otodynamics itself received an award in April, this time from Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen's Award for Technological Achievement was made jointly to Otodynamics and the Institute of Laryngology & Otology (the ILO) for their work in developing today's portable and effective newborn hearing screening devices. Otodynamics is hoping to introduce the new devices into the United States once trials and certification procedures are completed.
